Spring has sprung.

Hooray for spring! These warm temperatures and sunny skies are sure popping up early here in Kentucky. Perhaps it is just a teaser for what is to come this summer, but there are no complaints here.

We can keep our windows open. Let the boys run rampant in the backyard. Grill out on the patio. Enjoy a long run in the middle of the afternoon. Show off a fancy pedicure. Release the hounds at the dog park. Take walks with the hubby. And, soak up some sun.

We have been staying pretty busy in the evenings and weekends working out in the yard. Since we moved into our home in the late summer last year, we weren't able to do really anything outside. Now that it is getting nice out we are getting things in full swing! Heres what we plan to accomplish...
Wish us luck!!

1. Add some bushes and flowers in the bed along the front porch.

2. Plant some trees in the back yard for shade and privacy.

3. Add stone walkways on each side of the back patio.

4. Fix the gutters on the patio roof.

5. Say adios to most of the dandilion and clover.

6. Spruce up the front porch.

7. Plant some daylillies in the back yard.

8. Plant a bougainvillae on the trellis to remind us of Greece.

Shew...theres a lot to do even though
we have gotten a few of these things knocked off the list already.
Did we mention we recruit.
Any takers?

I am predicting many days of playing the dirt ahead, but it will all be worth it!
Oh, heres a few pictures I snapped the other day while out in the yard!

   Heading to colder climates.

<--- Full bloom.

           I will pose for you.

Snow Days.
Finally, some snow! Leave it to March for it to make its arrival! I have been hoping for this all winter. No ice, no terrible driving conditions, just a pretty blanket of snow that makes everyone wish they had a snow day! Here are a few pictures of what we woke up to in the Bluegrass state!

This was early this morning...probably about 3am.
The snow was coming down pretty steady.

The boys playing in the snow...
Dex tried to avoid the snow at all cost, poor thing had to hop around in fear if he stopped moving he would have fallen in. Luckily the long tail of his allowed me to keep tabs on him when he went under. Crazy Ace just wanted to eat all the snow...he hoovered about all over the yard filling his snout  with snow. I just didn't have the heart to tell him that he would never be able to eat it all.

Just some pictures of the sun making its presence known with all the snow...

This handmade scarf was a birthday gift from
K's mom. I love it!
Didn't think I would get to put it to use this season but obviously I was proven wrong!

Perfect day for a walk in the snow...
Monday Night TV Spot.

On Monday nights the hubby and I can be found relaxed in our living room watching this....

For those of you who are missing out and haven't seen the show here is the scoop...

Individuals with musical talent are invited to  audition live infront of four judges:
Blake Shelton-the country singer
Adam Lavine- the soulful rock guitarist
 Christina Augulera- the modern vocalist
Cee Lo Green- the not so typical rapper
The best part about this show is that the judges cannot see the what the performer looks like or how they perform on stage. Basically a blind audition. The selection process is based totally off of voice alone, thus the name of the show.

Judges sit at the front of the stage with their backs to the artist. When they hear something they like, they press a button that spins their chair around to see the artist. If no judge presses their button, the artist leaves empty handed, but if many judges press their button, the artist has to chose whose team he/she wants to be on. The artist will then be 'coached' by this judge as he/she tries to make it in the music industry!

Reasons we love this show.
1. The talent is raw and unique.
These artists will often perform popular songs that we are accustomed to hearing and re-create it in their own version.

2. The saying you cant't judge a book
by its cover has never been more true. Nothing is based off of looks on this show. Pure talent is what gets you through. Love that!

3. Before each performance you learn a little about
each artist...struggles they have faced trying to be successful in the music business, what led them to singing, why they are so passinate about music, or what its purpose is in their own life.

4. You root for the artist; you almost go thru the audition with them. This is probably my favorite part. I always get chills when I see the excitement on their faces and in their performance when they see a judge turn around. It breaks my heart for them when they finish their performance and no judges have turned around. Do you know how hard that would be?!

Anyways...here are some links of my favorite performances from the show thus far.
I feel like after each week I go to YOU TUBE in hopes these artists have more songs out there!

Weekend warriors.
This past weekend we stayed pretty busy working on things around the house, but still made time to get out and enjoy each others company! A big YAY for neither of us having to work on the weekends!

We finished decorating the dining room by filling the empty walls with some pieces that added some color to the room. For the main wall we found this painting at Homegoods (imagine that), and for the smaller half wall we decided to frame some pictures from our honeymoon in Greece.

We took some time for ourselves and went out on a date (its been too long due to our competing work schedules. Sunday brunch at Rossi's. For those of you who live in Lex, you must visit to this resturant. We have been there for dinner before, but never the Sunday brunch buffet. It is a bit pricey, but the many choices of food and the delicious tastes of everything made up for it! Afterwards, we burned off those calories and took the bug guy over to K's parent's house to play with their greyhounds.

I repainted the half bath downstairs. It is hard to tell in the picture but it is a light and airy green color called 'Willow.' I will say this, I usually love to paint and enjoy doing it. But this time, I am not sure if it was the small size of the room and lack of windows, or just the painting around all the appliances that made me despise this job. At least its over with and it looks better!

Finished getting the master bedroom together. We added some window treatments to the big window wall, gives the room some color and makes it look more cozy!
