Happy Hearts Day.

Its such a cold and dreary looking day outside but that just all the more reason to stay at home. And staying at home is just fine with me...means I can cuddle up with my three favorite boys- my hubby and our two pups! We don't usually do anything over the top on Valentine's Day, tonites plan is just to relax and spend time together. Sounds perfect :)

Here is how we celebrated our 1st Valentine's Day as Mr. & Mrs....
Got crafty and made some garland...

Received some pretty flowers
from my Dad, love them!

Checked the mailbox to find some love notes
from our family.
I had to post this one because its from our neice C...so funny.

Whipped up some dessert-red velvet cupcakes...

Kissed my Valentine when he came home from work.
Yes even the pups received a Valentines Day kiss ;)

Enjoyed dinner together...

Exchanged some gifts...

And ended the night snuggled in to watch a movie.

Hope you and yours had a great Valentine's Day
full of love!

Master Bedroom Reveal.

After a month of waiting, our bedroom suite finally arrived :) Here are some before pictures, and then pictures of it all put together...thanks to my amazing Hubby and my Dad who also came over to help. I haven't gotten around to decorating it because of everything else thats been going on, but theres really not much else we want to do. Maybe find a place to hang the mirror and a couple pictures. But here it is, the pictures were taken at night so it looks a lot darker than it actually is. We are really happy with our purchase!

Before.

After.

Lanterns from our wedding...
Mounted the TV up on the wall...
No cords...yay!
Hubby did a good job!
Here...or there...?

 What do you think?
We like.
Can't wait to rest and catch some zzz's.

Under the Weather.
I have been under the weather and on bedrest the past couple days, no fun. I am starting to feel a little better after some pain medicine, hubby taking care of me, and lots days of sleep. As crappy as I feel, and as much as I can't do much else than lay around, I sometimes hate being stuck in bed. So I apologize for the lame post, but writing this is the most productive thing I have done in the past four days.

Woke up to some snow and cold temperatures
this morning...

Went back to bed and caught some ZZZZ's
with these guys...

Woke up to Hubby's get well gift...
(Mini rose bush that hopefully we can plant
once it gets warm)

Slept more...

Stayed awake just long enough to catch a couple episodes...

Woke up and had some homemade
chicken noodle soup...

Back to bed here...
yep, our new bedroom furniture is here!

Celebrate Love.

I do not usually go all out or get so wrapped up into Valentine's Day like some girls I know. I think the holiday itself has become too commercialized and a lot of times the day doesn't live up to the fairy tale ideas expectations you create in your head. Sometimes the best gifts really are the simple things...homemade gifts, time spent together, or simple gestures that show you care. Here are some cute ideas I came across...I may have to just put my crafty side to work this year.

Flowers.
Guys, do you really pay that much for roses??? If so, girls be appreciative, guys save your $$! I am not a big rose fan, especially the whole red roses thing. Reminds me of the bachelor, will you accept this rose? How about changing it up a little? Skip the red roses and florist-y flower arrangements. Chose some different things for vases..painted pots, pitchers, planters, or vases filled with candy. Use colorful ribbon, chalkboard paint, or some jute string for decorating. Heres a few ideas that wont break the bank.

Pretty in Pale Pink

Classy whites.

Decor.
Why not decorate your house for Valentines Day?  I am not saying go all out like Clark Griswald at Christmas, but how about adding some touches here and there. Chose just one room you and your hubby spend time in. Throw some garland on the banister or in a window. Add a wreath to the front door, decorate the dining room table, or grafitti a bathroom mirror.

Sweet Treats.
Yes, get your Paula Deen bake on. The possibilities are endless. Pick something that you know your Valentine will like, a favorite dessert or candy.  Add some chocolate, pour on the sprinkles, dye the frosting, and use the heck out of the heart shape cookie cutter...you can't go wrong.

Cards.
Do you really want to fight the crowded card aisles at the store and hope there is an appropriate non-perverted, non-mushy card for your special someone?
Sometimes cards are nice, you get lucky and find one that says exactly what you want to say. If in the case you cant, try making your own.  Frame your own handwritten note or favorite song lyric. Bust out your hot glue gun, markers, glitter, and use things you find around the house. Don't worry how it looks, after all A+ for effort, right?

So there you go.
Get creative and remember what the day is really all about.
XOXO.
