Lawn Gnomes.

My hubs and I spent the evening digging in the dirt...literally.

For awhile now we have been wanting to fix up our backyard. One of the things we enjoyed most about our old house was the backyard. However, when we moved into our current home, the yard was not very well taken care of. Basically it was bunch of grass clover, dirt, and overgrown shrubs. Not a flower bed in sight. It was in  definite need of some TLC you could say.

Over the past few months, we have done quite a bit to the yard.

We have ripped out all the overgrown weed plants along the back fence line, grew some grass, added lattice to the patio, planted a bunch of trees, dug in two stone walkways, decorated the patio with some furniture and a rug, and put out some hanging and potted plants. You can see some of that here.

With the weather so nice in KY lately, we spent the evening creating a flower garden. Finally..., some color, some plants, YAY! Check our our work below!

We had a rough idea of how we wanted the bed to look. Don't laugh... I am always drawing out ideas and things on scratch pieces of paper. The hubby thouroughly enjoys making fun of me for this.

We got a bargain when we went shopping for plants...half of what we purchased was 75% off so the majority of the plants were $5 or less! Is that even possible?!

The finished product, a flower garden full of colorful plants. Ten different types and the best part is they are all perenials, so they are here to stay. I can't wait to see them grow and bloom next year!

We are super happy with how everything has turned out.

Cannot wait to grill out on the patio, start up the fire pit, play some corn hole, and relax outside!

Now all we need is a couple lawn gnomes, dont you think? ;)
